QX is Hiring a Co-facilitator! September 5th Deadline to Apply.

 Position Title: Group Facilitator (contract), QX
 
Hourly Rate: $20.91 per hour + 4% Vacation
Scheduled Hours: 7 hours per week (must be available Thursdays 4:30 – 9 PM)
Contract: September 2013 to August 2014 (12 months)
 
East Mississauga Community Health Centre (EMCHC) is a branch of LAMP CHC, and is the first CHC in Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon). EMCHC provides interdisciplinary health and social services to specific neighbourhoods within its diverse client-service area. LGBTTIQQ2S* communities are among EMCHC’s priority populations, with dedicated programs and services.


Position Summary:
We are seeking a Group Facilitator to co-facilitate the QX group, a weekly drop-in for LGBTTIQQ2S adults in Peel. The Group Facilitator will be expected to work every Thursday evening from 4:30 to 9 PM, with 2.5 additional hours for preparation and administration.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Plan, prepare for, and co-facilitate weekly drop-in for LGBTTIQQ2S adults in Peel
·         Organize occasional outings and special topic sessions
·         Maintain files appropriately
·         Conduct evaluations of participant experiences
·         Compile reports, where appropriate
·         Perform administrative duties as required

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications Required:
·         Self-identifying member of LGBTTIQQ2S communities
·         Excellent group facilitator, with experience co-facilitating groups for marginalized populations
·         Experience with conflict-resolution approaches in groups
·         Demonstrated client focus, empathy and communication skills
·         Demonstrated Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression analysis and practice
·         Familiarity with Peel region
·         Ability to work independently, and within a co-facilitation team
·         Excellent organizational and time-management skills
·         Lived experience of racism and transphobia are assets
·         Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent work and community experience

In a warm and caring atmosphere, families and friends hear about the experiences of others, share their own, and get help and support in learning to understand and accept their child, family member or friend. All discussions are confidential, and many people come at first to listen and not to talk. PFLAG welcomes parents, families and friends, as well as their LGBTTIQQ2S* loved ones.
 
PFLAG may be for you if:
• A family member comes out as LGBTTIQQ2S
• You can’t find the words to discuss your sexual orientation or gender identity with your family
• Your adult children can’t understand why you’ve suddenly come out
• A student is being bullied at school

Gender Journeys Peel is hiring! August 20 deadline!

Contract: September 2013 to April 2014

Peel Transitions is a 3 year Ontario Trillium Foundation-funded initiative of a Collaborative of LGBTTIQQ2S-positive organizations in Peel region. With an overall long-term goal of better serving trans, gender variant and gender non-conforming communities and individuals in Peel region, the initiative will a) provide direct services to trans, gender variant and gender non-conforming individuals who currently have extremely limited access to services within the region; and b) build community capacity to develop clearer understandings of trans, gender variant and gender non-conforming communities, and to equip service providers with educational materials, resources and skills to better serve these communities and individuals. 

Collaborative members are: Associated Youth Services of Peel (AYSP), Bramalea Community Health Centre (BCHC), East Mississauga Community Health Centre (EMCHC), and Peel HIV/AIDS Network (PHAN).

Position Summary:
We are seeking two (2) Group Facilitators to run Gender Journeys, a 10-12 week educational group for individuals in Peel who are thinking about their gender. Group facilitators will be expected to work on Monday evenings (for facilitation), with some day time hours for preparation and administrative responsibilities.

Group Facilitators report to the Health Promoter/Community Relations Officer at the East Mississauga Community Health Centre.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Co-facilitate Gender Journeys Peel, 10-12 week educational group for trans, gender variant and gender non-conforming individuals
·         Coordinate after care socials for graduates of Gender Journeys Peel
·         Participate in Gender Journeys curriculum review process
·         Collaboratively conduct intake process for individuals interested in participating in Gender Journeys Peel
·         Assist with recruiting guest speakers
·         Conduct evaluations
·         Compile reports, where appropriate
·         Participate in meetings with the Peel Transitions Collaborative
·         Perform administrative duties as required
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications Required:
·         Self-identifying member of trans, gender variant or gender non-conforming communities
·         Excellent group facilitator, with experience facilitating groups for marginalized populations
·         Significant expertise around trans, gender variant and gender non- conforming communities and individuals, and issues facing these communities
·         Demonstrated Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression analysis and practice
·         Familiarity with Peel region
·         Ability to work independently, and within a team
·         Experience working with newcomer communities and settlement services sector
·         Excellent organizational and communication skills
·         Lived experience of racism and homophobia are assets
·         Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent work and community experience
