November 20 (6-9 pm)
Trans* Day of Remembrance Community Gathering
East Mississauga Community Health Centre
7-2555 Dixie Rd., Mississauga ON L4Y 4C4
Join
QX on Thursday, November 20 from 6-9pm when we will be showing a
selection of short films and clips that celebrate the lives and
experiences of trans* folks, their struggles and their resilience.
Join us for community-building, discussion and delicious food.
**In
keeping with the standard parameters of QX, all folks who self-identify
as part of the queer and trans spectrum are welcome.
Trans*
Day of Remembrance invites us to honour the memory of the trans*
members of our communities who have lost their lives in the past year
and beyond, whether to transphobia, racism, whorephobia (hatred of or
violence towards sexworkers or perceived sexworkers), misogyny
(hatred/violence towards women), and other forms of oppression that
increase violence and limit access and protection for trans* people, and
disproportionately, trans women of colour.
Trans*
is a term used to reference the spectrum of trans communities,
including but not limited to those who identify as 2 spirit,
transsexual, transgender, genderqueer, non-binary, FtM, MtF, androgyne,
